Glitter - D1 Glitter[]
Identity[]
D1 Glitter is a glitter composition that produces bright gold flashes. The composition is based on Winokur 24 - glitter. It is a reasonably slow burning composition that needs to be meal primed to assist in ignition at effect time.
D1 Glitter is best pumped because too much water ruins the effect.
Composition[]
Potassium nitrate | 53 |
Sulfur | 18 |
Charcoal (airfloat) | 11 |
Aluminium (-325 mesh, spherical) | 7 |
Sodium bicarbonate | 7 |
Dextrin | 4 |
Preperation[]
If necessary, individually grind all chemicals (except Aluminum) as fine as possible. Excluding the aluminum, ball mill all the chemicals together for about 30 minutes.
Screen the aluminum into the mix using the screen method until the mixture is homogeneous. Now you need to moisten the mix so it can be pumped into stars. Do this by mixing up a solution of about 75% water and 25% alcohol. The alcohol makes the water wetter by breaking down the surface tension of the composition and allows the water to be absorbed easier. The drying time of a composition is also reduced as alcohol evaporates faster than water.
Add some of the solution to the composition and mix will. Keep adding more until it is barely damp enough to clump together when squeezed in your hand. Don't make the mixture too wet or it will make pumping the composition impossible. If you make the mixture too wet, it can be saved by adding more dry composition. Then pump these stars.
Cutting and rolling can be done too, however pumping uses very little water and generally produces the best effect.
